Our Entrepreneurship program
Our program exposes middle and high school students to the world of entrepreneurship and small business. Anyone can read a book about entrepreneurship - we want students to experience it instead! Through experiential learning, we emphasize critical and creative thinking, problem solving, flexibility, resilience, a growth mindset and the ability to manage risk and uncertainty – attributes also integral to STEM endeavors.
|
An added value of our program is its ability to help our students become better employees by utilizing concepts of "intrapreneurship" within companies that they may work for. Students practice the skills necessary for writing a successful business plan; written and oral communication; math proficiency; economic understanding; technological competence; business aptitude. These are skills which help to prepare students for professional environments as an employee, as well as business ownership!

"Entrepreneurship is the essence of capitalism. Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle. It requires a vision; passion to pursue it, and dedication to work through the tough times. You must believe in your mission and yourself, or no one else will. You will stumble and sometimes fall, but you must get back up, reassess and move ahead. The concepts included in Dream, Learn, Pitch are critical to understanding this process." - Allan Darr - ProAct, LTD
"Starting a company, building a team and taking an idea from zero to reality requires perseverance beyond all else. The journey is full of failures along the way. We are so often taught to fear failure, but this road requires a mindset that seeks to squeeze failures for every last drop of insight. When something goes right, all we can say is don't touch that dial, but when something goes wrong, we get to ask why. Dream, Learn, Pitch is doing the crucial work in teaching confidence and perseverance early, and that is exactly what our next generation of leaders need as they prepare to face the challenges ahead in bringing their groundbreaking ideas to life. Thank you for the work you do." - Nicholas Gilson - Gilson Snow, Inc.
"An entrepreneur has a precise mixture of traits in leadership, innovation, financial literacy, and determination. Dream, Learn, Pitch promotes an understanding and improvement of these traits among others in our students - a demographic which we desperately need to invest in.." - Don McCandless - ConidioTec LLC
"A true entrepreneur understands that decisions should be made based on what is best for the company's long term reputation, not what makes them the most profit today. Helping our youth to understand values such as this will be vital to harboring tomorrow's economy. The financial concepts contained in the Dream, Learn, Pitch program helps to plant those seeds." - Tom Mertz - Lion Country Kia
